    How is the overall reliability between the Suzuki and the Polaris you used to have? I have a 2024 Sportsman 1000 and I love it. I’ve been looking for my son a quad but I’m torn between the Kingquads and Sportsmans. Thanks

    • @DirtyJakTheDustyBean
      @DirtyJakTheDustyBean 20 часов назад

      The Sportsman does most things better (power steering, ride quality, additional options, etc) but the Suzuki’s have been as advertised for their quality so far for the first 2 1/2 years on em. We’re split on a few things with the King Quad but due to the power steering alone won’t be purchasing them again when the time comes (unless Suzuki improves this drastically).

    Pretty Cool Jak! I set up a solar on our tiny camper so I could use my sleep machine infinitely while camping. I have an MPPT controller with 400watts on the roof and a remote 100w on a 50 ft cord that I can stick out and follow the sun with since we always park in the shade lol. So its good that you mentioned getting an extension for yours. especially after I saw how much loot those things are going for. Great Video You both are Rocking it Brotha!

      @DirtyJakTheDustyBean 5 дней назад

      Even on a huge sale they are pretty expensive for sure. We didn’t know all the things we would need at first and are learning pretty quick. Having the solar cord extension and a junction box for the solar panels to go into then to the generator will be on the list in the future. For now this system works great.

    ICECO IS NOT HONERING THEIR WARRANTY…I purchased an ICECO fridge in 2022, and it stopped working correctly. I contacted ICECO. After a review and testing the unit was found to be defective. It was within their 5-year warranty. They sent me a label for the return. When they received my returned fridge, ICECO said that they could not find the Amazon order because of a computer problem, and there was nothing they could do. I filed a complaint with BBB, but ICECO did not respond. ICECO took my fridge, made up a lame excuse, and sent me nothing in return. BEWARE OF PURCHASING ICECO UNITS THEY DO NOT BACK UP THEIR PRODUCT.

    • @DirtyJakTheDustyBean
      @DirtyJakTheDustyBean 21 день назад

      With one trip on it: the 250 wh ICECO battery is nice to have but only going to last so long - figuring 12-24 hours. It’s nice when charging another battery, day trips, moving the cooler around (setting up camp, etc). Depending on the batteries you use the 250wh ICECO may not be comparable to some of the latest and greatest out there. We were glad we had it. The cooler performed very well for us on a four day camping trip. The cooler easily ran on a smaller electric power station, the 250 wh Iceco battery and a larger 2000 wh power station. The cooler only seemed to use a bit more power draw in the heat of the day. It was pretty quiet and easy to use. So far one trip in and we like it, we shall see as we use it more and more.

    • @DirtyJakTheDustyBean
      @DirtyJakTheDustyBean 24 дня назад

      Good question, we like the Koala for cooler/cold weather more as it has the two rooms and we find we spend a lot more time in it in the cold. The Octopus is our go to (as of now anyway) in the warmer weather and if we want to have great views outside the tent (rivers, snow, forest, mountains, etc) as this tent tends to let the outside in better. With having these for a little bit now we would be happy with either but maybe lean towards the Octopus a bit more if we had to pick just one today.

      In good weather it takes just a few minutes to deflate, roll up and put away (let’s say 10 minutes). When it’s cold out the tent gets stiff and harder to work with then it will take 15-25 minutes and not roll up as good and hard to get in bag.

    Hi there, when did you visit Little O? I ask since I know the guy who grades (grooms) the trail. My understanding is that it has only been done once this year and usually gets done again by Labor Day if not sooner since it is a fairly heavy used trail. The Cycle Conservation Club works with the the US Forest Service on that trail since it is on national forest. Part of the problem on that trail in particular is there is lots of sand and it gets whooped pretty quickly. The routes are groomed twice a week but glad you got to them before the chatter bumps started from the sxs!

    How do you get to the upper windows to open and close them once the tent is up. Likewise I assume you put your lights in that upper area before the tent's fully inflated?

    • @DirtyJakTheDustyBean
      @DirtyJakTheDustyBean Месяц назад

      Foldable step stool works perfectly for us. We can open and close the windows and put the lights up after the tent is fully inflated.

      We took it on a trip and it got cold and snowed and did not lose any air! We have watched videos where these tents have lost air so may happen to us in the future or upcoming winter.

    So I gather that the 50” weren’t great! That would keep us away as we prefer them to the often washboarded snowmobile trails! Great video!! We are heading up to Clear Lake Campground soon! Usually we camp at rustic but just bought a small fridge so want to go with electric this time! Coolers can be a pain in the butt! Thanks for the video!!

    • @DirtyJakTheDustyBean
      @DirtyJakTheDustyBean Месяц назад

      Funny you say that about the coolers, we just ordered a electric fridge (Ice Co) and a portable power station from Jackery. Were hoping this can help us get off grid a little easier for a little longer! The area was 10/10 for the routes (maybe dirt bikes but not positive on that) but the 50 inch or less were not good at all during our stay. We would go back for the camping, restaurants as we had a great time but the riding on ATV's if you like 50 inch or less was toward the bottom compared to other 50 inch or less. The routes we exceptional (maybe we caught some grooming, who knows) so we had a great time riding overall. Clear Lake is on our list for sure, not sure if we will get there before they shut down this year, hopefully we do.

      Thanks Scott! Haven’t rode in Ohio yet actually never caught our radar to ride there. It came up to put together a ride last year while out on the trails (your channel came up in the discussion) but we didn’t do it as we figured we were not a big enough channel to swing that. Maybe we try it this year, who knows….

      @@DirtyJakTheDustyBean I had some reliability issues with my quad last year with close to 5,000 miles. A problem prevented us from riding on our annual June 2023 trip. Lucky we had the canoe and could paddle the Manistee in its place! Anyway, I did not want to risk other trips that would potentially cause problems for others. Earlier this month, I purchased a second quad, a 2022 Canam 650 XT with 67 miles for about half the price of new. I am back in the game!

    Hello, I'm a new subscriber and my husband and I are wondering how you deter bears and other wildlife?

    • @DirtyJakTheDustyBean
      @DirtyJakTheDustyBean Месяц назад

      It is very rare to see a bear for us overall, we have had them in the campgrounds north of Newberry otherwise other than a quick glimpse nothing in many years. We keep all our food in our car when we’re not using it just to be on the safe side. Last year people on the campsite across from us had a bear come to their site and take their food that was left out on the picnic table. For us out on the trails way off the beaten path we watch out for Moose a bit more as we don’t want to stumble on one in a tight trail.

      @DirtyJakTheDustyBean Ok, thank you so much for your response. We really like the octopus tent and are really considering purchasing it. We had a beautiful travel trailer and decided to sell after 6 yrs. Although we loved it, they are a lot of maintenance and can get quite costly, so we sold it. We are missing camping so much that we have been researching inflatable tents, and so far, the octopus is our favorite.

      @denisedelgado5515 so far we love it! We do have a link in the description below the video if you choose to purchase it- will help you or us at some point (lol- we are new at this). There is good and bad for both campers and tents. One thing we love about the tent is when we’re not using it we don’t have to worry about it at all (no maintenance, no insurance, storage fees, etc). It sits in our basement until we go out again. Been great, almost kinda puts everyone who has been in it in awe!
